Spenwood is a distinctive British hard cheese made from pasteurised ewe’s milk by Village Maid Cheese in Berkshire. Hard-pressed and matured for 7–8 months beneath a thin natural rind, it has a supple texture and beautifully developed nutty flavour, balancing sweet and savoury notes with a gentle depth of character. Often compared to Pecorino, Manchego and Parmigiano Reggiano, Spenwood becomes firmer, more piquant and slightly crumbly with further maturation, making it a wonderfully versatile cheese for both cheeseboards and cooking.

Spenwood is delicious served with crusty bread, quince paste, chutney and seasonal fruit, or alongside cured meats and olives on a cheeseboard. Its firm, savoury character also makes it an excellent alternative to Parmesan, grated generously over pasta, risotto, salads and soups. Pair with a full-bodied red wine, robust ale or dry cider to complement its rich, nutty flavour.

Ingredients: Pasteurised Ewe’s MILK, Salt, Vegetarian Rennet, Starter Cultures.

Allergens: MILK

Store & Serve: Keep refrigerated below 8°C. Remove from the refrigerator 30–60 minutes before serving to allow the cheese to reach room temperature and its full flavour and texture to develop.
